Duties

  • Communicate declassification disposition recommendations and other issues to civilian and contractor staff.
  • Analyze and review classified records using existing security classification/declassification guidance.
  • Conduct declassification assessments and special projects, and/or studies.
  • Design, plan, and conduct declassification assessments and/or special projects on issues of substantial scope, complexity and impact.
  • Research information and develop new approaches to program evaluation which serve as precedents for others.
  • Provide advisory services of a wide variety of classification and declassification issues, with extensive scope and impact throughout a complex organization.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent can be required to work irregular duty hours to include working nights, weekends and holidays.
  • This is a testing designated position.
  • Personnel are required to sign Department of Army (DA) Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program).
  • Personnel must pass drug screening prior to hiring and will be subject to periodic and random drug testing, thereafter, in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 600-85 and Department of Defense Directive 2010.9.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Assists conducting analytical and evaluative review of classified historical records for declassification in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, directives and/or laws. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
